2018 was a year of significant changes to the inspection regimes in Scotland and Wales, and to less extent in England with a revised How CQC Monitors, Inspects and Regulates Adult Social Care Services (May 2018, updated 2019). Further changes can be expected with recovery from the Covid-19 outbreak, which is likely to be slow and gradual with greater use of remote methods for monitoring gathering information and on-site inspections carried out on a more targeted basis.
