Under the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016, all existing services are required to re-register with the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) so that they can show compliance with a new set of regulations and standards, the Regulated Services (Service Providers and Responsible Individuals) (Wales) Regulations 2017, which came into force in April 2018. Prospective services seeking registration for the first time must also follow the new registration procedures.
