This topic covers Information Governance and explains the roles of the Information Governance Lead, Caldicott Guardian, the Senior Risk Information Owner and the Data Protection Officer.
Information Governance can be defined as the policies and structures that NHS healthcare organisations are required to adhere to by law with respect to the collection, use, organisation and security of data. It is the way in which data and information are handled and processed in organisations and covers both personal information, ie information about patients and employees and corporate information, eg records relating to finance.
