What is Information Governance?

Information Governance can be defined as the policies and structures that NHS healthcare organisations are required to adhere to by law with respect to the collection, use, organisation and security of data. It is the way in which data and information are handled and processed in organisations and covers both personal information, ie information about patients and employees and corporate information, eg records relating to finance.
