These notes provide a basic skeleton from which any company can develop its own fleet fuel policy. Obviously, not all points will be relevant to all corporate situations and it is essential that senior management design the policy to meet the specific needs and operational circumstances of the business, rather than “optimising vehicle costs”.
The aim of this policy is to provide information to employees on the organisation’s fuel management strategy. This will ensure that employees are not assessed unnecessarily on this benefit and the employer will not have to pay Class 1A National Insurance contributions or VAT fuel scale charges.
