Bottles and other feeding equipment should be washed in hot soapy water as soon as possible after a feed. Clean everything thoroughly and make sure that every trace of milk or other food stuff is removed. A clean bottle brush is recommended. Rinse thoroughly in clean cold running water. Run clean water through teats to ensure that the hole(s) are not clogged. Salt to clean silicone teats is no longer recommended, but using salt to clean latex teats is safe.
Check all bottles and feeding equipment for any damage and throw out anything that is damaged, as splits, cracks and other damage can harbour bacteria.
Use a hot programme of 80ºC or more.
