Make sure all managers understand the right to request flexible working and that it applies currently to all employees with a minimum of 26 weeks’ continuous service. (This does not prevent an employer agreeing or arranging flexible working in an employment contract.)
Check that an employee who has requested flexible working has at least 26 weeks’ continuous employment.
Line managersSenior staff who will be dealing with the request should all have received the requisite training.
Check that any application for flexible working contains all the required information.
Check that the employee has not previously made an application for flexible working within the last year.
