Extended services are activities or services provided by a school before or after the school day. They can be of particular benefit to parents who need to fit in the “school run” with the journey to work.

They commonly take the form of breakfast clubs and after-school sports, music and other activities that are often known as clubs. In many schools, particularly those that offer boarding, day pupils complete “homework” in school at the end of the day, rather than at home.

Extended services can be specifically for pupils in the school or can include members of the wider community.
