Under the parent contract, schools have an implied right to exclude pupils who commit serious misconduct. The contract should set out clearly the types of behaviour – both on and off the school premises – that are likely to result in exclusion. It should also be supported by a clear policy on the exclusion procedure.
This topic looks at common reasons for exclusion, dealing with specific exclusion issues, the investigation, exclusion and appeal processes, and the actions required after a pupil is excluded. Parent contracts are covered in detail in a separate topic.
