Electrical goods are the world’s most important export item according to trade figures published by the International Trade Centre. In 2019, US$2.7 trillion (£2.07 trillion) of electrical goods were exported worldwide, meaning that electrical products represented almost 15% of all exported goods by value.
Electrical goods are defined as equipment or appliances that work by means of electricity. In the WCO harmonised system, most electrical goods fall under HS85 electrical machinery (see section notes below for exceptions).
