The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence is a qualification for professional drivers of certain goods and passenger vehicles. It was developed as a result of EU Directive 2003/59, which requires drivers to be continuously trained throughout their working lives.
ensure that drivers complete 35 hours of approved Periodic Training within each relevant five-year period
check that training suppliers are providing “approved” training courses
not breach the Drivers' Hours Regulations or the Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations when organising training for drivers
