The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009 (CDG2009) (as amended) and the Northern Ireland equivalent Statutory Rules (as amended), require employers involved in the carriage of dangerous goods by road or rail, eg carriers, fillers or loaders, to appoint a dangerous goods safety adviser (DGSA), in accordance with Regulations Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) and/or the Regulations Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (RID). There are certain exemptions from this for packaged dangerous goods.
