The construction standards of vehicles used in the UK are now largely governed by EU and ECE regulations for type approval but these requirements are also incorporated into various UK legislation. Certain aspects applicable to older vehicles are not subject to the current type-approval requirements and are covered exclusively by UK legislation, as are conditions of use.
