People who use care services should expect that their providers always treat the information they give to them as confidential unless they give their permission for it to be shared. This rule applies to:
all information given by a service user to help with their care and treatment
the information provided by third parties
all information kept on a person’s care records
information about a person to be shared with others, including electronic methods and through social media.
The registered manager is responsible for the maintenance of the service’s confidentiality policy, and for addressing alleged or suspected breaches of the policy.
