The British domestic hours rules will normally apply to professional drivers of goods vehicles under 3.5 tonnes on journeys wholly within the UK unless they are exempt. Drivers of goods vehicles over 3.5t in the UK will usually need to comply with the EU rules on drivers’ hours but there are a number of exemptions from this general rule and if such an exemption applies, then the domestic hours’ rules will usually need to be followed instead.
