Where education is provided wholly or mainly during school hours, it should be free in state-funded schools. A charge can be made for activities at other times if they are covered by the school’s or local authority’s charging policy.
Various grants are available to schools and local authorities to contribute to their development and improvement agendas, including personalised learning. Schools can also set up or participate in projects that bid for funding from the National Lottery.
