Adoption leave rights are broadly comparable to maternity leave rights.
Since 5 April 2015, adoption leave and pay has matched entitlements available to birth parents, so that the previous requirement for 26 weeks’ service before becoming entitled to adoption leave has been removed and adoption pay has been increased to 90% of salary for the first 6 weeks.
