It is the organisation’s policy to give employees the opportunity to broaden their experience, acquire new skills, etc by carrying out work, research or study in a particular field which will benefit both themselves and the organisation. This is done by means of granting periods of paid sabbatical leave.
Eligibility for sabbatical leave is dependent initially on employees having at least five years’ continuous service with the organisation. This length of service requirement is in place in order to reward loyalty and maintain motivation. Alternatively, employees may be recommended for sabbatical leave by their appropriate manager/supervisor.
