Note: Spillages of infectious substances must only be dealt with by staff specially trained in their control. A spillage control kit for biological hazards must be readily available. It should contain suitable protective clothing and adequate materials for clearing up forseeable spillages.

First Action

  1. Evacuation should not be necessary but inspection of damage should be delayed for at least 5–10 minutes for aerosol clouds to disperse.

  2. Remove any contaminated clothing.

  3. Close laboratory doors. Equipment venting to atmosphere may be switched on.

    Aim to isolate.
