All gases except oxygen must be treated as asphyxiants, in addition to their other properties.

First Action

  1. Eliminate all sources of ignition and instruct others to keep at a safe distance, well away from the spillage area.

  2. Open windows, if possible and close laboratory doors on way out.

Aim to ventilate the area, but isolate the material.

  3. Taking into account all immediate circumstances decide whether to:

    1. control the spillage, or

    2. evacuate the building by sounding the fire alarm and call the fire brigade.
