All forms produce fibres which are hazardous to health and are subject to the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2012.
First Action
Where a decision has been made to remove and dispose of asbestos-based material strict precautions must be followed, as laid down in the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2012 and associated guidance. Failure to observe these may lead to criminal prosecution.
“Clean” and “restricted” areas must be set up and clearly identified.
Monitoring and decontamination arrangements must be made.
Disposal procedures must be made and understood by all staff.
The work must be supervised by the contractor and the local safety advisor.
