SIG Trading Ltd, a construction supply company, has been fined following an incident in which an employee was seriously injured when he was run over twice by a forklift truck.

S was employed by P&O, a shipowning company, as a shore gang worker from 1954 until 1971. He died as a result of malignant mesothelioma in 1971, aged 55. His widow claimed compensation from P&O, alleging that the company had been negligent in allowing S to come into contact with asbestos which had allegedly caused the mesothelioma.
