This policy statement details the responsibilities of the company board of directors. It is recognised that the board of directors needs to take responsibility for health and safety within the organisation.
This organisation recognises that pollution of a watercourse, groundwater or the sea by oil is a common type of water pollution incident dealt with by the environment agencies. Many of these incidents are caused by leaks and spills from storage facilities, eg unbunded storage tanks. As part of its commitment to sound environmental management, it is the policy of this organisation to store its oil securely so as to prevent oil spills and leaks into the environment.
In England and Wales, discharges to inland freshwater, coastal water, groundwater and relevant territorial waters are regulated under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 (EPR).
