What is the New Models of Care Programme and what are “vanguard” sites?
In January 2015, NHS England invited individual organisations and partnerships, including those within the voluntary sector, to apply to become “vanguard” sites for its New Models of Care Programme. On 10 March the first wave of 29 vanguard sites was chosen.
NHS England state that each vanguard site will take a lead on the development of new care models that will act as blueprints for the NHS moving forward and provide “inspiration to the rest of the health and care system”.
A New Care Models team from NHS England will take the project forward, working with the local vanguard sites to develop dedicated support packages. They will also help support the projects in terms of overcoming barriers and building capability within the vanguard sites.
