How can ex-military personnel support our organisation’s facilities management function?
When recruiting, FMs should have a clear profile of the person they are looking to fill the vacancy. One group of potential employees is frequently overlooked for more diverse roles. Ex-military personnel will often only be considered for security vacancies, when the reality is that their training makes them ideal for many other positions. The military will have taught this group of people how to think quickly under pressure, but also how to analyse a situation and develop actions to remedy what can sometimes be a crisis. For FMs, ex-military personnel could offer a comprehensive set of skills.
