UN Sustainable Development Goals

The UN’s new SDGs were agreed last year (2015) and replace the previous Millennium Development Goals. They are effectively a wish list for world peace and prosperity, and as such can appear unrealistic, but they do give a focus for action and a common set of definitions for initiatives across the world. The 17 goals are the following.

1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere.

2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

3. Ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages.
