I understand that some important changes to the points-based system (PBS) immigration rules have been made this year. Please can you outline them?

Yes. The Government has announced a number of changes to the UK immigration rules in early 2019. They relate to the PBS which is immigration from outside the European Economic Area (EEA). The main changes are summarised below.

Tier 1: Introduction of two new visa routes:Start-up visa This is to encourage a wider pool of overseas talent to set up businesses in the UK. Applicants, who can be non-graduates, will require endorsement by a business or higher education institution sponsor.
