Can care homes and hospices run medicines re-use schemes?

Q

Can care homes and hospices run medicines re-use schemes?

A

Whilst successful medicines re-use schemes already operate in NHS hospitals across the UK, such schemes have not previously been allowed in care homes and hospices. This will address increasing concerns about the medicines supply chain in care homes and hospices, alleviating some of the pressures in the forthcoming weeks.

Why is re-use of medicines not normally recommended for care homes and hospices?
