What is the Roland Commission and what does its report on the primary care workforce say?
In 2014 the Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt, instructed Health Education England to establish an independent Primary Care Workforce Commission to investigate issues around the current and future primary care workforce, and to make recommendations for change.
Chaired by Martin Roland CBE, Professor of Health Services Research at the University of Cambridge, the Commission particularly wanted to identify and highlight innovative models of primary care that will meet the future needs of patients and the NHS.
