What is the current situation in healthcare and how will it recover from Covid?
While the NHS has been managing patients who have had Covid-19 infections and the longer term consequences of the pandemic over the past year, the other routine work has had to be put on hold. This has meant that in England 4.59 million patients are on the waiting list (the highest since August 2007) with around 400,000 waiting 52 weeks or more. The aim for 2021–2022 is to restore services, tackling health inequalities and meet demands for care.
