Q

How can our business embrace remote co-working, and what does this mean for the facilities management of these teams?

A

The days of in-house workforces are coming to an end, as mobile digital communications technologies are delivering higher levels of flexible working which means, from a facilities manager’s (FM’s) perspective, managing what can be highly diverse teams is essential.

According to the Work Design Collaborative: “Many organisations, especially in the current economic climate, are actively seeking ways to reduce operating costs. Distributed work programmes are one of the most effective ways of achieving badly needed operational savings. Enabling employees to work remotely makes it possible to reduce the corporate real estate portfolio by as much as 50%, by offering employees an opportunity to work from home, full or part time, in return for giving up assigned private workspaces in the corporate facility.”
