A refugee has applied for a nurse’s position in our organisation. What are their rights and which pre-employment checks are needed?

A

A refugee is a person who has been given a positive decision on their claim for asylum under the United Nations Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees 1951 and has been granted leave to stay in the UK. They have usually been forced to flee their countries because they fear persecution, often as a result of direct state action.
