What is the reception baseline assessment scheme and how will it work?
The reception baseline assessment (RBA) is being introduced by the Government for children during their first half term in reception classes in primary schools (the academic year in which they turn five). Under the scheme all new pupils should be assessed within the first six weeks of joining reception, regardless of when they join the class, if they have not been previously assessed.
The new RBA scheme is being introduced by the Standards and Testing Agency (STA). It will be a statutory requirement from autumn 2020.
