Floods can indeed be dangerous and disruptive. The UK has been affected by a number of severe floods in recent years which have caused considerable damage, disruption and even death.

The first step in planning for flood risks is to carry out an appropriate risk assessment. Practices need to assess the actual likelihood of flooding affecting their buildings. A map on the Environment Agency website gives a general guide.
