I’ve heard that when CQC inspections pick up again they will be focusing on oral health. What will they be looking at?

Yes, before the lockdown, Care Quality Commission (CQC) Adult Social Care Chief Inspector Kate Terroni said the regulator would play its part in improving oral health in care home residents by “stepping up our focus on oral care in future inspections”. Then the pandemic forced homes to close to all visitors, including inspectors and healthcare professionals. From January 2022 a programme of activity to inspect providers currently rated “Requires Improvement” began, so inspectors will be pursuing their interest in this area of care.
