How can early years providers audit provision for open-ended learning?
Children learn through exploration of the world around them, problem-solving and trying things out.
The recent publication of a revised Development Matters for the Early Years Foundation Stage, which comes into general use in 2021, states that:
“Practitioners carefully organise enabling environments for high-quality play. Sometimes, they make time and space available for children to invent their own play. Sometimes, they join in to sensitively support and extend children’s learning”. (Development Matters 2020:6)
