A

The new strategy to improve the recruitment and retention of teachers in England was published by the Department for Education (DfE) at the end of January. The Government states that the strategy is intended to help deliver the 30,000 new classroom teachers it aims to recruit each year and to provide better support for the 450,000 teachers already working in schools.

Key elements of the strategy include the following.

  • A simplified process for applying to become a teacher.

  • The development of an Early Career Framework for new teachers.
