We understand that the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published new guidance for inspectors which will apply to adult social care and affect how services are rated. What form do these take and when will they come into force?

A

The guidelines you are referring to are new handbooks that the CQC has published to help inspectors come to their judgments about the quality of a service and to apply a rating. The CQC has published one new handbook to cover primary care and one new handbook to cover all adult social care services, including care homes and domiciliary care services.

The new handbooks can be found on the CQC website.
