What is happening to Public Health and Public Health England?
In August 2020, the Secretary of State for Health, Matt Hancock, announced that Public Health England would be dissolved and new organisations would be put into place to replace it from April 2021.
There are a number of reasons for the change.
The Covid-19 pandemic has revealed that Public Health England and Public Health generally have not been resourced adequately or have the capacity to tackle the challenges presented by this situation.
