Can we insist, under health and safety legislation, that all employees have the Covid-19 vaccination currently being rolled out across the UK to reduce the risk of transmission in the workplace?

A

From the public health perspective, there are no statutory provisions that can force individuals to become vaccinated.

The Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 specifically states that members of the public should not be compelled to undergo any mandatory medical treatment, including vaccinations.

However, the Government is running a campaign to encourage all eligible individuals to have the vaccination when made available to them.
