What is the Local Offer?


Local authorities are required by law to publish information available about services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (0-19 years), their parents and carers. This information must be set out in one place in each authority, known as the Local Offer. This is usually accessible on-line. It should not be just a directory of what is provided in the area, but should have involvement from those who need and deliver these services in its development.

The SEND Code of Practice (2015) clearly outlines the extensive purpose and requirements of the Local Offer. The two key purposes of the SEND Local Offer are
