We operate a secure shredding and recycling service for computer hard drives in the UK, and are planning to offer this service in the rest of Europe. This requires us to import the shredded material for bulking up and further treatment. Is this “Green List” waste for the purpose of the Transfrontier Shipment Regulations, or do we need to notify these shipments to the regulatory authorities?

International shipments of waste are regulated under the EU Transfrontier Shipments Regulation EC/1013/2006, as amended. The Transfrontier Shipment of Waste Regulations 2007 (SI 2007 No. 1711) set out the arrangements for regulation and enforcement in the UK.
