Our office premises are undergoing a major refurbishment with much of the furniture being replaced. We would like to donate the old furniture for reuse; are there any issues of legal liability that need to be taken into account?

By reusing furniture you are diverting waste from landfill, conserving valuable resources, reducing your carbon footprint and helping the recipients to save money. Reuse is higher up the waste hierarchy than recycling or energy recovery, and is encouraged by the Government. Nonetheless, there are a few legal issues that you need to take into account, particularly if you are donating electrical and electronic equipment.
