A

You don’t say how the flood occurred. This can be from a number of causes: river or tidal surge, heavy rain, or a leak from the water supply. Before doing anything else, it would be prudent to ascertain that the flood cannot reoccur. Then you can deal with the aftermath.

Flood water may contain sewage and although the water has receded, the sewage contamination may remain. In addition to sewage, there is the potential for the water to have been contaminated with chemicals or other hazardous substances. However, by taking care and a few small precautionary steps, the risk of infection can be minimised.
