How can our business take advantage of the UK’s cybersecurity strategy?
Chancellor Philip Hammond has announced that an additional £1.9 billion will be allocated to cybersecurity, as this form of attack on businesses and organisations continues to rise year-on-year. Hammond said: “Our new strategy, underpinned by £1.9 billion of support over five years and excellent partnerships with industry and academia, will allow us to take even greater steps to defend ourselves in cyberspace and to strike back when we are attacked.”
The 2011 National Cyber Security Strategy, underpinned by the British Government’s £860 million National Cybersecurity programme, has three basic components to defend, deter and develop security initiatives to fight cybercrime in all its forms. For facilities managers (FMs), using these three directives is a good framework for developing their own cybersecurity plans.
