Could you please clarify for me the requirement for completing Box 44 — the Additional Information field — on a customs entry? I understand that when we ship a part that is under UK export control outside of the UK, we need to alert the freight forwarder, especially small parcel operators, with the air waybill or tracking number, copy of the invoice and copy of the licence for them to declare in Box 44. I was under the impression that this was mandatory for all exports under export licensing controls even if it is a despatch, ie moving within the EU. I talked with someone at our fast track parcel service today and they said Box 44 declarations are only required for shipment outside of the EU. Can you please confirm either way?
