I want to use a particular contractor to do part of the work for my current project. Are there any rules I need to follow?

It is not an unusual scenario. Some building work is needed, but the client has someone in mind to do some of the “specialist” installation. Maybe a person they have worked with before who does kitchens or bathrooms; a specialist shopfitter, or a heating or lighting installer, who also aids with the design.
