Is it still worth investing in a biomass boiler now that the Government is planning to cut the subsidies?

The Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) has caused a stir in renewable energy circles with its recent announcement that the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme is to be overhauled. At present the changes are still at the consultation stage, but if implemented, they will significantly reduce the subsidies available for small and medium-sized biomass boilers. Support for solar thermal systems would be cut altogether on the grounds that people would install solar heating anyway.
