A

Only appropriately trained staff should help to administer an inhaler, except in an emergency situation. This should be set out in a policy on the administration of medicines, which should be kept under review and all staff informed of its requirements.

The policy should be based upon best practice guidance. In England the Department for Education document Managing Medicines in Schools and Early Years Settings provides advice for schools and early years employers to help in the development of their medicines policies.
