I am involved with the transport of dangerous goods by road, and aware of ADR exemptions for example the small load exemption, limited quantities, etc. A colleague of mine mentioned some UK specific derogations, what are they and where can I find them?

There are a number of derogations for domestic road transport only. These are contained in the Dangerous Goods: Approved Derogations and Transitional Provisions (ADTP), published by the Department for Transport (DfT) Dangerous Goods.

These cover matters such as:

  • immediate vicinity carriage

  • continued use of old tanks

  • retail distribution of inners from packages
