In most cases managing the religious customs of employees will fall to a company’s HR department. However, FMs are increasingly finding that this is also a component of their duties.
How FMs approach the religious beliefs within their company’s workforce is vital to get right. The discrimination legislation makes it an offence to discriminate on religious grounds. More importantly, the law does not specify particular religions, rather stating that any belief system that an employee maintains must be respected. If your company has people with unusual religious beliefs these cannot be ignored.
